Winnie

  • Age 6 years
  • Sex Female
  • Size Unknown
  • Fixed Yes
  • House Trained Yes

Meet Winnie, a 6-year-old Lab/Greyhound mix with the heart of a loyal companion and the zoomies of a track star. At around 45 lbs, she’s the perfect medium-sized cuddle bug who loves belly rubs, morning kisses, and snuggling up for a spoon session after Winnie thrives in a calm, quiet home where she can be your one-and-only (NO KIDS OR OTHER PETS, please!) and have a big backyard or open space to chase her beloved ball. Fetch is life for Winnie! Give her 10–15 minutes a day to run, and she’ll happily snooze the rest of it away. She’s crate trained, house trained, knows her commands, and lives for your love and attention once she warms up (which only takes a day or two!).

She’s not a fan of crowds or chaos because she is quite timid around strangers, but if you’re looking for a sweet, silly, loyal best friend who’s equal parts outdoor adventurer and indoor snuggle bug, Winnie’s ready to be your whole heart. Come meet this quirky queen, and we promise she’ll put a smile on your face and steal your heart!

Cuddling preferences: Winnie takes a day or two to warm up and then is one of the most loving, loyal dogs who can’t get enough kisses and cuddles. She Loves to cuddle and smother her owners in kisses every morning. While she doesn’t need to sleep in bed, she would love the opportunity and loves to spoon 🙂 She loves belly rubs and butt scratches as well. Overall she loves to be pet or near her owners.

Types of play: Loves to play with all toys but her ultimate favorite is fetch. She’s obsessed and arguably needs an owner willing to throw a ball for her (backyard, field , etc). She can run a lot, so a big yard or open land is ideal (she is a greyhound, so she is super-fast! We typically bring her to a large open soccer field and throw the ball for her 10-15 minutes a day and that’s all she needs to be pooped out/sleeping the rest of the day). She also does tug of war in the house a lot and fetch. She’s also playful without toys and knows how to play gently with humans and kids that she gets along with.

Energy level: Medium-high, loves exercise, running, fetch, being outdoors, hiking. But also likes to sleep a lot of the day.

Quirky behaviors: loves to hump her bed or pillows 😊

Crate trained: yes

House trained: yes

Tricks known: sit, lay down, stay, paw

Food motivated: food motivated inside but once outside not food motivated whatsoever. She is extremely excited/happy the second she’s outside and officially “in her own world”

Barker: yes to door bell or other people walking through neighborhood.

Walks on a leash: Yes, but pulls a lot. Much better off leash staying close by. She’s also really good at fetch so that’s what we do mainly for exercise as she brings the ball right back every time.

Likes outdoors and or car rides: Scared of car rides but she will get into the car without any resistance… LOVES the outdoors – anything and everything!

Friendly with other pets, humans, animals: Winnie is selective with other pets; with a slow introduction, she can get along with other friendly dogs. However she does pick and choose and will show aggression/not get along with dogs quite randomly. She’s also Very protective over her owner(s) so she is ok with other humans but again we give her a slow introduction.
