Sharlene is a true southern belle with a gentle and kind soul. She loves all humans and dogs and can’t wait to say hello – whether she met you when she first arrived in Colorado or a minute ago. She always tries to get in a good lean against your legs when she first meets you with the hopes of a good back rub. She is perfecting her zoomie skills in the backyard, occasionally incorporating the deck into her loop. She has developed so much confidence since arriving in Colorado. Although loud noises and quick movements (e.g. opening the dishwasher to load dishes while she is eating close by) may still startle her, she quickly gains her composure and goes about her business (eating her dinner). She has made tremendous progress, but Sharlene would do best in a quieter home without young children. She is very treat oriented so she is easy to train. She is quite the looker – we get stopped by people all the time as we walk in the neighborhood – her pictures do not do her justice!
Thanks to Pet Haus Studio for taking great photos of Sharlene!
More info about Sharlene
Other Dogs ▼
Sharlene loves, loves, loves other dogs - we really see her personality shine when she is around other dogs. She does have playful puppy energy but will also relax for a good snuggle with a dog buddy on a dog bed. Good at reading cues on interested/not interested in play and will instigate "chase me" sessions. Other dogs help her confidence so she would likely do best with another confident dog in the home.

Children ▼
Good around kids, may get close when meeting them but otherwise well behaved. Given Sharlene still startles with loud noises and sudden movement, she would do best in a quieter home without young children.
Leash ▼
Like so many of our foster dogs from shelters, Sharlene arrived with no leash skills. Although she will occasionally still pull and get distracted by a particularly amazing scent, she walks side by side with her foster sister impressively. She is a fast learner.
Where I'm from ▼
Sharlene was a stray and found herself in a high kill shelter in northern Alabama. She was a staff and volunteer favorite, so they reached out west to RMLR to find her a safe home. After watching her video, we jumped at the chance to bring her here.
