Nessa is an incredibly sweet, cuddly, and smart girl. She is 50% Great Pyrenees with a gentle, special soul. She is calm, deeply affectionate, and quietly devoted. Once she decides you’re her person, she’s all in, rolling onto her back with paws in the air the moment you walk by, then resting a soft paw on your leg when you stop, just to say “don’t go yet.” She’s remarkably quiet indoors. No barking at passersby, no frenzy when someone knocks. She simply finds the center of whatever room you’re in and settles there, content to be near you. She loves to lay quietly outside all day long if she can – she’ll spend the whole day lounging happily, keeping a watchful eye on her world the way Pyrenees were born to do. Nessa is dreaming of a quieter life: a home with space to stretch out, maybe a yard with a view, people who move at her pace. She doesn’t need much to bring out her love! Just your presence, your hand on her belly, and a place to belong.

Other Dogs ▼
Nessa has a doggie sister in our house that she loves. They sleep together and they love to play outside. Our guess is that when given the chance, Nessa would establish this kind of relationship with other dogs as well. She has successfully played with other doggie friends, she just needs a slow and mindful introduction.

Children ▼
Nessa can at times be a sensitive dog, and the unpredictability of young children can be stressful for her, particularly loud noises and sudden movements. We think she'd do best in a home with no children or children over the age of 10.
Leash ▼
Nessa has mastered loose leash walking over the last year and does not pull at all unless she has to poop! She has prey drive towards squirrels and may lunge after them. Sometimes Nessa barks and lunges towards other dogs on leash but easily redirects with treats. She has made tremendous progress in this area and is very trainable. When she sees another dog on a walk now, she will usually check in with her human first. She is treat motivated and a fast learner.
Where I'm from ▼
Nessa was found as a stray in Houston, TX. Our family met her while we were out walking in the neighborhood and we adopted her from RMLR. At that time, she had heartworms and very little energy. We oversaw her treatment and now she is 100% heartworm free! Her energy skyrocketed after treatment, and she is a much happier creature. Over time, we've realized that our house is too busy for Nessa. We have two young children and LOTS of people coming in and out all the time and we believe she would be more successful and truly thrive in a quieter environment.
