- Foster Parent(s) Thanks to Sue and Andy for being great fosters to Buddy!
Buddy quickly learned the household routine and follows rules with ease. He responds wonderfully to food, attention, and gentle guidance, and he’s mastered chewing only on his toys. Most of all, he loves being close to his people—resting his big head on your lap just to connect. At night, he sleeps quietly in his kennel.
Buddy has thrived alongside another dog but would be just as happy as an only pet, as long as he has room to exercise his long legs–and is in a household that can handle his size with a structure and consistency.
The houshold that chooses Buddy is going to be rewarded with big love. He meets your eyes and wants to be touched and brings consistent optimistic cheer into a room. He’s going to change an adopter’s life, for sure. He’s a great dog.
Thank you to Wag Your Tail Photography for taking great photos of Buddy!!
More info about Buddy
Other Dogs ▼
He's great with the resident dog. He's so much bigger, yet he plays gently and takes all the cues. He's been great with the dogs he has met. He wants to meet them all. Every. Single. One.
Cats ▼
Doesn't react to cats he has met.
Children ▼
Unknown here--but his records say he is good with children. He's very big and very sweet.
Leash ▼
Buddy loves to take walks, and has learned to walk politely on leash. He has learned not to pull very much, but he does have long legs, and is also a comfortable jogging partner. He's not reactive to geese or bunnies, but we do step off the path when coming face to face with another dog, and he's practicing sitting politely for treats at those times. He has learned quickly, and loves the routine. While he's calm with the routine in our neighborhood, we have noticed that reverts to his big pulling habits in new neighborhoods/trails, and we have to focus on the treat distraction training routine in new spaces.
Where I'm from ▼
Buddy is from Oklahoma, and is an owner surrender--"too big." It appears that he was kept outside, and led a fairly sheltered life--but he's clearly happy to be experiencing it all now!
