When I think of a lab personality, I think of a dog like Blue. Blue is very happy-go-lucky, loving, and social. He likes to lay at your feet while you chill, play with dog friends or human friends, get lots of pets and cuddles, and check out what food you have (we will have to work on his manners a bit). He also seems to have a bit of separation anxiety, but he also is in a new family situation and separated from his litter mate, Red, for the first time, so he may settle in more and calm down with time. He is very determined to get out the door with you, if you go to leave, and he is a strong big boy. We put a gate up at the entryway, and that works for us. Besides at that time, he is a true gentle giant. He is the perfect family dog. He would do great in a family with another dog and/or children.

He is very friendly and playful and will also respect a dogs space when they give him signals to.
Absolutely wonderful with our two year old. He loves playing with him, loves cuddling with him and is very gentle with him. Blue also came from a family with older children, too.
Pulls on a slip lead leash. Will try a harness next and update.
Where I'm from ▼
Blue will turn two on Christmas this year (so will his litter mate Red). The two of them grew up with a family in Kansas, who are moving to a new country, so need to rehome them. From their intake paperwork it sounds like they were often outdoor dogs, but did spend time indoors too. He was stressed with his transport to Colorado and being separated from his family and brother, but each day gets more settled in. I will update his profile in a week or two, once he is fully settled in.
