  • Foster Parent(s) Thanks to Mitch & Kylie for being great fosters to Sharlene!

She’s a sweetheart waiting to trust and come out of her shell! She has gained so much confidence over the past few days with us, but still has had a hard time learning that her needs will be taken care of. She loves stuffy toys (hasn’t destroyed any yet) and comfy beds or blankets, but doesn’t trust us enough yet to want to cuddle. But she’s content napping in another room! She loves cheese and occasionally will get the zoomies in the morning.

Taking longer to settle in than some other dogs, but really has come to like her routine- straight outside in the morning, breakfast, sleep on guest bed during workday, long leash time in evening, dinner and has come around a huge amount to the car – originally she wouldn’t go in the car without being lifted and now when we walk past the car in the driveway she gets excited by the car door

Still a nervous Nelly at the vet but responds well to affection and cheese/hot dogs.

Other Dogs ▼

She does amazing with other dogs and is excited to see them both on the leash or when meeting in other spaces. She has playful puppy energy but takes cues well. Lovvvves other dogs - we really see her personality shine when she’s in a fenced area with another dog. Good at reading cues on interested/not interested in play and will instigate “chase me” sessions.

Children ▼

Good around kids, gets up close and personal to meet but otherwise well behaved. Can be a little mouthy with food (hasn’t learned to take treats politely/gently yet).

Leash ▼

She's a little "all over the place" on leash, but she's young and has likely never been leash trained before! She likes to sniff and then run in short bursts and if she's walking with her foster brother (our dog), has got to catch up to him to see if what he's sniffing is any good. She is not reactive to dogs we pass and does get a little skittish if the leash wraps around something she's not expecting.

Where I'm from ▼

She is from Alabama, but we don't know much about her history - she was likely a stray for a little while.

We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who love dogs and work to find homes for Labs and Lab Mixes in need.
