Marley is one of the most gentle, sweetest, and nicest dogs ever. He loves to be around people and is perfectly content just cuddling and hanging out, but can also be energetic and likes to play with toys, balls, and absolutely loves going on walks. He also enjoys being around other dogs. He has unbelievably soft and pettable fur. He definitely does not act his age, which is a good indicator that he still has a lot of good years ahead of him. He gets so excited when you come home from being away. He’s always the first dog at the door to greet whoever comes home. He does fine being left alone, and is fully house trained.
Marley does have some issues with his rear knees. He had a complete CCL tear on his left leg. He had surgery on this leg on April 15, and after 3 months of rehab was released from all restrictions and is doing great. He used to limp on the left side, and it is gone. He also has a partial tear on his right leg that will require surgery. If the surgery is not completed before he is adopted, RMLR will pay for the surgery and rehab, so long as RMLR providers are used. He has some arthritis in the knees (which the surgeries will prevent from worsening, as well as some arthritis in his right hip, but you would never know it. He loves to run and play, and can easily jump up on a couch or bed if permitted. He gets daily pain meds and supplements to manage the arthritis but he may not need them post-surgery.

More info about Marley
Other Dogs ▼
Marley is great with other dogs. He is currently living with two other dogs, including one older curmudgeonly dog who can sometimes have limited tolerance for other dogs, and they all do great together.
Cats ▼
Marley seems generally uninterested and chill with cats. We hear that when introduced to a playful cat with a previous foster that he even played a little bit.
Children ▼
Marley is great with our two teens. He is very gentle, and I suspect would be good with younger children as well.
Leash ▼
Marley is generally a good walker, he likes to sniff and explore. He will pull a little bit. His one issue on a leash is when he sees other dogs. He very much wants to say hi to any dog he sees and will very enthusiastically pull towards them and bark. It is very friendly, and not aggressive at all. We are working on reducing this behavior and starting to see some results.
Where I'm from ▼
Marley has had a bit of a tough life so far and seems to be very grateful to be in a nice home. His records say that he was originally picked up as a stray in 2018 by a shelter in Arkansas, and was adopted by an older woman. Last summer, he was returned to that shelter because his owner could no longer take care of him. Marley is receiving lots of TLC since arriving with RMLR. Our vets have given him a dental, removed some lumps on on his eyelids, aspirated some lumps (fatty lipomas), biopsied a lump on his leg (non-cancerous) and taken x-rays to check his knees and hips. He has had 1 TPLO surgery so far and will get his other knee done in the coming months.
