  • Foster Parent(s) Thanks to Richard and DeAnna for being great fosters to Ranger!

Ranger is an absolute love bug. He is a Velcro dog and loves to be with us and resident dog. He shows affection by placing his head on your hand, arm, or lap and completing does the “lab lean” when you pet him. He especially loves his ears and back of the neck rubs, and belly rubs!! He lays quietly by foster’s feet while he works. He seeks attention and assurance consistently through the day and would do best in a home where he won’t be left alone for long periods of time.

He has followed queues from the resident dog and follows his lead. He has quickly learned about the treat pouch on walks and is already checking in as the resident dog does. He loves walking and would be a great hiking or walking buddy.

During transport to CO, he travelled very well and settled down within a few minutes of stops.

We have used walking, chew bones, and lick mats to help with decompression. He has settled in quickly to the routines of the house.

He sleeps on a blanket on the floor by our bed.

More info about Ranger

Other Dogs ▼

He is very friendly. In the few days he has been with us he has met 2 other dogs. Both times he was appropriate and not reactive at all. When seeing other dogs across the street while walking he does not whine or pull to get to them. Just watches for a moment and keeps on going.

Cats ▼

The shelter said he did not interact well with cats

Children ▼

Unknown. He is very lovable and energetic. He is a typical lab with whip of a tail and high interest in all food!

Leash ▼

He walks well. Seems used to a harness. Stays in front and walks at a fast pace. There is a little “hunting” back and forth and side to side at times. He seems to sniff out the scents of the squirrels and rabbits in our neighborhood and perks up when they run away, but has not pulled or acted to chase them. He walks well with the resident lab.

Where I'm from ▼

Found as a stray in Utah. Was in the shelter for 2 1/2 months before coming to CO. He has an injury to his tail due to “happy tail syndrome.” He is being treated. He had chewed through a plastic crate at the shelter and it is unknown how he would be in a wire crate. We are not using a crate while his tail is healing.

We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who love dogs and work to find homes for Labs and Lab Mixes in need.
