Lala is a happy, people-focused girl who loves to flash a big, goofy smile—complete with her adorable ‘happy ears’ and a wiggly butt! She’s incredibly friendly, hopping right into the car when we picked her up and showing no hesitation around new people.
She’s already potty-trained and crate-trained and enjoys snoozing next to me in her open crate while I work. She also loves snuggling in bed and is perfectly happy to sleep in! While she doesn’t seem to know spoken commands yet, she’s food-motivated (especially if stinky cheese is involved!), so training should be a breeze.
Lala is a gentle giant—calm, sweet, and deeply people-focused, always seeking connection by resting her head wherever a hand is offered. She’s a pro at making herself cozy, gathering soft toys and blankets into the perfect nest, where she can snooze the day away.
While never rambunctious, Lala is very large and strong and will need a confident adult handler to work with her on leash skills.
Lala is heartworm-positive (RMLR will be treating it!) and she’s still settling into Colorado, which has made her a little picky with kibble, but we’re giving her time to adjust. Stay tuned for updates as she settles in!

Not sure yet.
Cats ▼
Not sure yet. Lala is very interested in chickens. While watching TV with us, Lala saw a cat jump out of a box and let out a little growl. When the cat disappeared from the screen, she curiously searched behind the TV and around the room, trying to find it! She hasn’t reacted to other animals or birds on TV, but this moment makes us think she might be a bit too interested in real-life cats.
Children ▼
Lala is a big, lovable girl who doesn’t always realize her own strength! We haven’t seen her around kids yet, so we’re not sure how she’ll do, but she might be a bit clumsy for little ones. When giving her treats, it's best to watch those tiny fingers, and for now, only adults should handle her walks. We expect Lala to be gentle and affectionate with children, but little hands holding tasty snacks might be tempting, so mindful supervision is best!
Leash ▼
She's a strong girl who is working on her leash etiquette!
Where I'm from ▼
Lala’s past is a bit of a mystery, but what we do know is pretty special! She was found as a stray in rural TX with another smaller dog and her chip tracked back to her owner. They reclaimed the smaller dog but not Lala. They had been using her for breeding and didn't have a use for her anymore. She tested positive for heartworm and will start treatment at one of RMLR's apporved vets. RMLR will cover the cost of treatment.
