Kane is very affectionate and eager to please. Kane has been a wonderful, easy dog to have in our home. He eats and sleeps well. He takes treats gently and likes to be wherever you are when you are at home.
He enjoys napping next to you while you are working, reading, or watching TV. He responds well to basic commands and has not touched anything in the house that is not his. He will bark with excitement when he knows that he is going for a walk. We have been working with him on being quiet when he is waiting to be leashed up for a walk. Since we have been fostering him, he has gotten much more comfortable riding in the car. He will jump in as soon as you open the car door and loves to watch the scenery go by while you are driving.
We think he would be a great companion. Everyone who meets him, loves this boy who wants to cuddle. Kane is 100 lbs of sweetness in a 70 lb body and is very affectionate and eager to please. His favorite past times are his walks, snoozing in his bed, getting pets (he will gently lay his paw atop your hand if you pause to let you know you are not quite finished) and laying near his human. Although he is relaxed in the home and loves his naps, he is ready for a walk whenever you are.
Kane can easily walk a couple of miles and still have plenty of gas left in the tank. He loves to go on as many walks as you are able/willing to take him on. Even with shorter 10-15 min. walks, Kane is calm upon re-entering the home. When walking on hiking trails and in new environments, he takes everything in stride and sticks with his human (with a little extra sniffing around). Kane eats and sleeps very well and takes his treats gently and eagerly. He is treat motivated (it’s hard to beat hot dogs and peanut butter). That combined with his eagerness to please made Kane easily trainable. He will fetch a toy once or twice before becoming disinterested and has otherwise not seemed too excited about toys.
He loves his naps, cuddles, pets, treats, and his humans. We cannot say enough good things about Kane, but if I had to describe Kane in three phrases, those would be – goes with the flow, quietly affectionate and loving, and ages like fine wine. He will be a wonderful companion in his furever home.

Other Dogs ▼
Kane gets along very well with our 13-year-old female black lab and they enjoy their time together while at home and on their walks. He is now doing great around unfamiliar dogs that we encounter while out on walks. He was quite reactive to other dogs when we first got him, but he now just walks past them even when they are acting aggressively.

Children ▼
We haven't seen Kane around children, but he is wonderfully affectionate with the adults in our home.
Leash ▼
Kane LOVES his walks outside and will give a gentle "awoo" (or two) of excitement when you bring out the leash before sitting on command to be leashed up. We have been working with Kane on his leash skills and he is doing great now. He pulls just a bit at the beginning of a walk but settles down quickly and walks on a slack lead. He loves to stop and sniff grass, flowers, plants, etc,..
