Bane is a big goofy sweet puppy who is working on his confidence. He likely spent most of his life only around his siblings and mother so he is trying to figure out his new life in Colorado. He can be cautious when meeting new people and dogs, and entering new environments. He can be startled by loud noises. He often looks to his older foster sister on cues of what to do. He has some very typical lab behavior – high energy, counter surfing, great tail wagging, etc. He is very treat oriented so should be easy to train. He especially loves hot dogs!
More info about Bane
Other Dogs ▼
Overall he has been very friendly meeting dogs but has been nervous at times backing away from other dogs. He is still a puppy so has struggled reading the "I don't want to play with you cues" from his older foster sister but did respect her when she corrected him. He would likely do best with another confidant dog in the home who is similar in age.
Cats ▼
Unknown.
Children ▼
He is a very friendly dog but he is a big goofy puppy and occasionally jumpy so not a good fit for young children, particularly those less than 5 years of age.
Leash ▼
Although Bane has likely never been walked on a leash prior, he has made tremendous progress in a couple of days. He is walking in a harness with two snaps - one for the back ring and one for the chest ring - and walks in a straight line most of the time. Pulls some but not much. Loves all of the sniffs he gets to do on walks.
Where I'm from ▼
Bane was an owner surrender with his mother and two siblings in Carlsbad, NM. He has an acquired condition called entropion of both lower eyelids. Bane's eyelids are inverted so the eyelashes rub against the corneas resulting in eye goop which discolors the surrounding skin. Entropion is easily corrected with surgery with no long term effects. Bane has no ulcers or scratches on his corneas at this time and he had successful surgery 9/11. He now has 2 weeks of recovery before he can resume normal activity.
