Maybel

Hi folks!
Carrie told me to send out pictures of Grace (fma as "Maybel") to the alias.

I'm the volunteer transporter who picked up little Maybel at Carrie's to take her to see Dr. Dodge. She had nasty injuries to her front shoulder soft tissue and muscles from chains and dog bites, was limping and in a lot of pain. Long story short, I ended up taking her from Dr. Dodge's back home to foster in a little quieter environment till she had the chance to mend.

She's a dear, sweet little wild thing now, and we totally love her. One would never guess that she was in such a bad state only a week ago — she loves playing in the snow, taking walks with us, and watches Angus's every move to learn from him (when she's not terrorizing him).

Special thanks to Carrie and Laura for calling me to see if I could help transport her to the vet — we're lucky we found each other!

Best,
Heidi (I may be a foster "failure," but I'm happy to continue as a transporter!!)

Casey

Dear Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue,
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that Casey is doing great:)  He has adjusted completely and has even shown us a few tricks he picked up along his journey of life. Casey aka the poptart bandit can open doors.  He particularly likes the pantry door, but luckily he only goes for the poptarts.  He also impressed my husband the other day by letting himself out to the back yard.   We have a lot of fun with him and I plan on encouraging his genius in a dog training coarse ran by Lucky Dog.  Hopefully we can start in March:)  Anyhow take care and thank you again for all your hard work.
Sincerely,
  The Haiduk Family

 Sammy

Hi Carrie,

I just wanted to update you on Tuco & the Bradley family.  Well, we do feel like a family again since loosing Sabre.  Tuco is adorable, a sweetheart and terror all at the same time.  We are very busy with him but having lots of fun.  He is very smart, inquisitive, and loving (when he's sleepy).  We took him to the vet Saturday morning and he checked out great - she doesn't see Shar pei - just lab - but then she didn't see his sisters.  I am attaching a few pictures - the first two are of him in the car ride home that first day, he just passed out.  Anyway, thanks again for everything.  We really feel like we made the right decision.

Chip

I just wanted to send you all an update on Chip.   This past weekend I took him up to the mountains with my parents and their two dogs and he really shined. He has always had a bit of a hyper streak so I have to say I was a bit anxious about how he was going to do in the middle of the national forest with my parents two dogs in an unfamiliar cabin with lots of things he could get into. However, I learned that all my training, hard work, and bonding with him really paid off. He did absolutely great! He was by far the best behaved dog out of the three. He even did well when we went fishing, except for the fact that he thought the fish we caught were there for his amusement. He was absolutely fascinated, not scared or freaked out in the slightest. It definitely meant we were meant to be, because any dog of mine has got to love catching trout. We went on several hikes and he came whenever he was called. At one point my parents two dogs decided to bolt, and I called for Chip and instead of following them he stopped and came right back.  I have never been prouder. He even discovered that lying down in the middle of the creek and army crawling is a great way to cool off (SO CUTE!). So anyway I could go on and on but I just wanted to pass along how great he is doing and how proud I was of him this weekend. I knew he could handle the dog park, and the random hike around my house but he blew me away this weekend. He has really turned out to be a great companion. We still have a lot of work to do, mostly around his various phobias but he is really coming along. I have attached a few pictures so you guys can see how great he looks. He really has turned out to be gorgeous and everyone loves him.

Thanks,
Carolyn

Jasper

 Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to say Thank You for allowing me to add Jasper to my family.  He has been such a wonderful addition to my life.  His energetic spirit and friendly disposition make him the perfect companion for my outdoor adventures.  We are frequently going to the dog park, hiking, visiting my family, and he helps me explore new areas of Colorado every weekend.  He is still obsessed with tennis balls and could truly care less about the other dogs at the dog park if I have the chuck-it in hand.  He has made some great friends with dogs who live in the apartments around me.  Play dates are made many times during the week so the dogs can run and wrestle together.  Jasper is able to follow all my commands and has learned many fun tricks!  He has truly made great gains in the few weeks I have had him.  I consider myself VERY lucky to have a dog who truly was cared for by their previous owners.

Now information on his health, he is on his third and last week of antibiotics.  YEAH!  His kennel cough is getting so much better.  Even though I haven’t been able to take him to daycare, he has completely bonded with me and is very comfortable staying home alone when I am at work.  My grandparents are retired so they will come over and play with him during the day but if they don’t he is very content with his Kong, Spidey, and a bone..  My family members in Colorado , have fallen in love with his gentle and calm nature and are very willing to help in any way possible.  I am very grateful to them.

My friends have been over to meet him and watch the Packer game with me.  Jasper wowed them with his Green and Gold enthusiasm.  Whenever a touchdown was scored, he would race around the house and jump in the air!  He is a complete Green and Gold fan now!  My parents and brother will be coming to Colorado to visit within the next few weeks and I can’t wait to introduce him to all my family back in Wisconsin during Christmas break.  Thank you again for picking me to be Jasper’s forever home!  I truly feel blessed to have such a great dog in my family. If you need anything, please let me know!

Always,
Jenny Marsh
