Bogart

|
RMLR,
I've had a few mins to pass along a few pics of Bogart looking like he is settling in very nicely here in the Paulson's home. He has quite down quite nicely and sleeping well Thu the night : ) Day time he is my shadow, but is slowly getting use to being by himself for a few hours a day while I'm out doing a few things. Karen myself would like to thank the Rocky Mt Lab Rescue for bring Bogart to Denver and giving us the opportunity to enjoy a fun and loving lab as Bogart is. Enclosed are a few pics of Bogart enjoying the freedom of not having to be chased or pined up in a kennel, but just be a lazy dog as he is. Again thanks for you efforts in saving the labs as you all do.

Dear Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue,
I just want to give you an update and send you some candids. I love my new life. I have gone on many adventures to the mountains, to the lake, and to the farm. Let me tell you about this whole farm thing. There are some really odd, almost alien like creatures on a farm. My mom says they are chickens, pigs, sheep, and cows, but I think they are weird and smell funny but were fun to look at.
Here is how I enjoy my day. Each morning I wake up on my side of the bed, as my mom graciously shares her bed with me. Many mornings Riley, the cat, will be cuddled up beside me. After a quick breakfast I am ready to start my day. I go to the dog park every morning. My first couple of trips I was a little shy and stayed right by my mom but now I have a morning friend and we love to use our noses and search the whole park for treasures. Sometimes though we will just play chase. My mom says I am the fastest dog at the park and I find I usually have to turn around and wait for my friend to catch up to me. After the park we head to work. My mom says I am very spoiled, but I think I am just being a good girl. You cannot believe all the tummy scratching one can receive at an office. During the lunch hour my mom thinks I am just visiting upstairs, but little does she know I am in the kitchen receiving samples of everybody's lunch for the day. My mom leaves the front door open and often times you can find me lying in the warm sun greeting customers. After a nice long nap in the afternoon, I am ready to head back to the dog park to play with my afternoon friend, Riley. I really like him because his mom brings water with ice in it to the park, and is that the best treat!!! I don't find the bigger dogs much fun to play with, nor the aggressive ones, but Riley and I can usually be found wandering the park, and maybe getting involved in a big game of chase before the evening ends. I love to ride in the car and usually find that is the best time to catch a nap. Once I get home, I love to get the cat to play, and I am pretty slick with the new trick I taught him. If I roll over on my back, he will lay beside me and knead my belly. He does a great job and I usually fall asleep. Cats are so easy to train. However we do love to play and sometimes he will chase me, other nights I will chase him. That is the only time I will bark, which my mom says is great!
Thank you RMLR for rescuing me and finding me a home!
Paws & Kisses,
Samaura

Hi RMLR,
Things are great here. The name we picked was not even on our looonnnngg list that we had. At the last minute we named her Lucy! We decided to pick something with the ie or y on the end that would make it easier for her. I think she may know her name already.
I think she might be coming out of her shell with men. We went on a hike yesterday to a reservoir and she only barked at one man. She had a blast... played with other dogs and swam. She was a little reluctant to swim out in the deeper water but she did it a few times. Lat night she was so tired. We didn't even see her after 7:00, she was on her bed the rest of the night.
I think she is getting comfortable a little more each day. I spoke with a trainer on the phone last week and they said that a rescue dog takes about 30 - 60 days to adjust in their new environment. She and I are going to training starting this Monday night for 6 weeks to brush up on her manners. She has had a few accidents in the house and she still jumps a lot. She definitely has the puppy in her. We think she may be less than a year.
When Lucy gets burst of energy we have our neighbors Lab come and play with her. They do great together. The Lab neighbor loves to play fetch with the ball. I throw the ball to Wrigley and he chases it and than Lucy chases him the entire time. It gets some energy out of her. As of yet she is not interested in fetch. She will sometimes get the ball from him and than she runs away with it and hides it. Although, we did get her to fetch some sticks at the reservoir. She is mainly not interested in the ball.
The kids love her more each day. She has been good for our family. Now I see why they say dogs are therapeutic! I will drop you an email later and let you know how the vet appt. went and how training is progressing. - Ann |

Coal

|
Hello all, we just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how it was going. The first night with Coal was wonderful. Coal is fitting in very nicely and enjoying his new surroundings, although the grinder gave him the most puzzled look this morning. ;)
We’ve taken him on the highline canal, and he loved the sights and smells there. Especially the giant dogs, see “whattheheckarethose.jpg” which is the first time we’ve heard him bark, we we’re wondering if he knew how to bark.
I’m sure he’s had a rough few months and he spends a lot of time sleeping, but keeping us very close. Thank you for all you have done and for making this an easy and pleasurable experience.
Thanks, Tony and Jill Avery |
