Cooper

Cooper is yet another great lab that came to RMLR from North Platte, NE. This sweet guy was around 6-7 when he showed up in Colorado.

FROM THE NEW FAMILY: Hi all - not sure if you remember but I adopted Cooper in November of last year.  He was skinny and sick but I am VERY happy to say he is healthy and a little chubby now.  Hope you enjoy the pictures - the one of him on the couch was taken shortly after I got him and the other one was taken a few weeks ago.  He is the best dog ever!  Thanks.

Bailey

Bailey came to RMLR from North Platte, NE. He was a great 5 year old fella. FROM THE NEW FAMILY: Here is a picture of me and Bailey.  He's doing great and we're starting doggie classes on Thursday.  He loves chewing on his toys, sleeping on the couch and showing that he's "boss".  Hopefully our classes will take care of that.  He seems to enjoy sitting on me and always making sure he's got a paw on top.  He's pretty entertaining and still has some of that puppy in him.  It's very cute.

Scout

I wanted to send an update on Scout whom we adopted last year.  We are so happy to have her as a part of our family; she is fitting in as if she was always part of our lives.  She has been busy traveling up to the Winter Park to play in the snow which she absolutely loves.  She gets out in the snow and runs, jumps and rolls with her black lab brother, Lucky.  She loves to go snowshoeing with us and will typically stay in Lucky or our tracks because her legs short which makes is hard for her to blaze trail.  When we are home, we take a lot of hikes in the dog park where they can get off leash and run.  She is getting much stronger and can hike with us for over an hour before she starts to get tired.

Thanks for helping us connect with Scout.

FROM THE NEW FAMILY: Hi, I recently found you guys on facebook and wanted to send you guys some pictures of our dog Soto, (she was called Hilton when we got her in November of 08).  She was one of two puppies left in the litter, the other one was Asher (now Leo) who had a message in your most recent newsletter that we thought was great.  As you can see, she looks a lot like her brother, and like her brother really enjoys hiking, running, camping, rooting through the trash, and the mountains in general.

Violet

Violet is a sweet girl that has been in and out of RMLR - not under her own control. This time we think we found a great match. Violet has been adopted by a great loving family in Fort Collins, CO! From the new family: She has been a wonderful, loving addition to our family since we brought her home on November 12th.  The first couple of weeks were a little crazy, but once she figured out that she was finally "home" she settled in quickly.  She has learned to sit, not only by voice command but by sign language!  She is very smart--just a little stubborn!  We are working on the other commands  and she is coming along nicely. She and Dotti (our cocker spaniel) play together constantly--running in circles in the back yard and playing tug of war with each other with Violet's brown bear.  Miraculously, the bear is still in tact!  Dotti still tries to let Violet know she is the Alpha dog, but Violet is very sweet and gentle with her.  I think they are best friends now.  They sleep in the sun spot at the top of the stairs together on sunny mornings.  Dotti likes to lie up against Violet's stomach.  They truly are so cute together. We just want to say thank you to all of you at the lab rescue for all you have done and given to so many dogs and families.  Violet came into our life a few weeks after we had to put down our black lab Jesse, who was almost 13.  She helped breathe life back into our hearts and family again after our loss.  We are so thankful you are there to give these wonderful animals a second chance.  We can't even imagine our family without Violet being a part of it!  Our love and best wishes to all of you for a wonderful new year--Violet's new family, The Goodfellows', Mark, Betsy & Tyler

Spot

Spot is a 2-year-old Great Dane/Lab mix that came to RMLR from Madison, Kansas. His owner, who had kept him chained in the yard, relinquished him. The pound that Spot was in was ready to euthanise him when RMLR found out about him. We had him transported to Colorado and placed with one of our foster families. His foster dad took him to the vet for his heartworm test, which came back positive. He also requested x-rays, because he had noticed that Spot favored one of his rear legs. The vet found severe hip dysplasia, and recommended immediate surgery after Spot recovered from his heartworm treatment. The vet suspects that Spot previously suffered a broken leg that went untreated by his former owners. Spot's unusual markings got lots of attention, and he quickly got adopted by a wonderful couple that fell in love with him from seeing his pictures on our website. They are currently helping him to recover from his heartworm treatment, and will be working with us to get him through his upcoming hip surgery

 Buster

Buster came to RMLR via CARE transport with several other brothers and sisters.

FROM THE NEW FAMILY: Here are two pictures of Harry (Buster) that were taken during the past few months. The birthday photo was sent to our daughter in January as a birthday card and she was so thrilled with it that she enlarged it as a keepsake. The other one was taken this morning and will show you that he has grown considerably.

As we already told you in previous correspondence, my wife and I are absolutely thrilled with Harry. He is a very intelligent and affectionate dog. We are so lucky that we found him

Lucy

Lucy came to RMLR from North Platte, NB with 4 other brothers and sisters. She is a sweet little girl who has been adopted by a family in Rollinsville, CO. From the new family: I am writing to say THANK YOU for taking such good care of Lucy and to give a first-week update. I'm sending a few photos of Lucy and her first few days at our house.  She seems to be adjusting well to her new surroundings and family. Claire was right, she's got a great disposition - very sweet, a mellow pup, but also very playful.  Eddie (our older dog) is not entirely happy about the new puppy in the house, but he keeps his distance and we're hopeful that he'll come around pretty soon, especially once Lucy is old enough to start taking longer walks/hikes. The cats are curious, watching from a distance and we think she'll be playing with the younger cat pretty soon (or at least coming nose-to-nose).  The old cat is grumpy and stays hidden most of the time anyways.

 Princess

Princess came to RMLR from North Platte, NB with 4 other brothers and sisters. She is a sweet little girl who has been adopted by family in Colorado Springs.

FROM THE NEW FAMILY:

Hi.  I just want to say a big thank you for bringing Princess Aspen into our lives!  We have all totally fallen for her.  From the very beginning at 4 weeks old, we knew she was the one when she let Sierra hold her for a LONG time.  She is an absolute cutie, giving kisses to the girls ALL the time. She was a little confused for awhile...thinking she was supposed to poo in front of each Christmas tree in the house (and I have a bunch of trees). Thankfully after a couple of rough days, she is realizing that you only poo in front of trees that are outside!  Her brother Gunner is teaching her the ropes....so is the next door neighbor dog who she absolutely adores.  We believe that she picked us that first day.....and found her forever home! Thank you! Tom and Elisha

Chip

Chip came to RMLR from North Platte, NB. He is a sweet litte guy at only 5 months old. He's been adopted by a great family in Denver! From the new family: We have been very busy this last week, settling in with Chip (who we have renamed Puck, as in hockey ).  He has had numerous puppy play dates, gone to the mountains to help work on the cabin and lots and lots of walks.  He is doing great with the kids and the cats!!  We have definitely been blessed with a great dog.  Thank you so much for matching us up, we look forward to many years of happiness with Puck.
