Went Home On: Lucky Dog!
How Sweet It Is!
 July 31, 2009

Polly

Polly is doing great—we’ve renamed her Ellie, and she seems to be enjoying her new home.  We are absolutely in love with her—she has so much personality, and even more energy!  We’ve been taking guesses on what she may be mixed with—we’re thinking greyhound or maybe Great Dane; judging by her paws it looks like she’s going to be huge!  We will send some pictures in soon

Thank you again for everything you all do!  We’re so thankful you helped us bring Ellie into our family.

Bella

Thank you so much for finding this wonderful dog for us!  Bella is
settling in pretty well in our home - the first few days, she was
really tired, likely due to the altitude change and a bout of kennel
cough that we quickly took care of with some antibiotics.  After that
though, I think she realized that this was "home", and that she
wouldn't have to move to somewhere new again.  Introductions with our
cat, Luna, went a lot better than we expected, actually - there was a
little hissing and a couple thwacks on the nose, but Luna soon learned
that Bella wouldn't hurt her, and Bella soon learned to give the cat a
wide berth! We decided to keep her name as Bella, which a friend
pointed out went really well with Luna - the two names mean "beautiful
moon" in Italian. We've taught her fetch (sort of - sometimes she gets
distracted and forgets to bring the ball back to us, haha), and a few
other commands, and often play tug-of-war with her.  My dad came to
visit a few days after we adopted Bella, and he gave her lots of
lovin' and attention, taught her "wrassling", and snuck her treats to
spoil her rotten like a good grandpa! We also started taking her to
doggy daycare, which she loves, as she gets to play with other dogs
and run around to her heart's content.  Soon we're starting obedience
classes, and then a camping trip is planned as well.  She's such a
beautiful, smart, sweet girl, and she has fit into our family as if
she were always meant to be here.  We love her very much, and we'll
send you more updates and pictures as she continues to grow up!

Cheers,

Lava

 RMLR and Charee (foster mom),

We couldn't be happier that we adopted Bauer! He is named after the hockey company, and somewhat for Jack Bauer from 24. He has been such a good boy over the last 3 days. He has done well when we have gone to work, and was very well behaved at the vet today for his wellness exam. Everyone at the vet said he is very handsome and such a sweetheart. That's basically what everyone that has met him so far has said. We have been bonding very well, and he loves to follow us around no matter what we are doing. There have been many epic tug of war battles in the house as well. I'd say it's about 50/50 on who wins. He's getting more comfortable in the car. Short trips including just a minute or two down the street to Petsmart for toys and treats makes him feel more safe. So we'll continue working on that. Puppy class starts on Tuesday, but he's already learning so much! He's very good with sit, but now he will lay down for a small bite of pupperoni, and will even stay and leave it until we tell him it's ok to take it. His leash manners are very good on the gentle leader as well. Cortney even took him on a long run yesterday and he was amazing. I know this is a long, rambling tale about our adventures of lab rescuing, but we thought you would be interested in hearing about it. We simply couldn't have asked for a more handsome, amazing dog.

We wanted to thank you, especially you Charee, for all you've done. Bauer is an amazing dog and you can tell he was well loved by his foster family. I'm so glad we rescued a dog from RMLR. He is the perfect addition to our family, and we hope to have many many happy years with our new dog!

Jasmine

Hello everyone,

Wanted to let you know that Jazzie is happy and adjusting well. My golden passed away over a week ago so I just have the 2 labs. Now that is just them they are bonding well. When the golden was still here is was odd because she was sick and really wasn't interested in getting to know her to much. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Ivy

Riley (I think this is the name we have settled on) did REALLY well.  She is a great traveler!  We stopped a couple of times for both the dog and the girls to stretch their legs a bit, but otherwise made it in just under seven hours.  When we got home we introduced Riley to our dog, Annie.  They're getting to know each other and seem to be doing okay.  Although she didn't eat this morning, Riley ate what I would approximate as a cup and a half to two cups of food.  She's also really enjoying a rawhide bone as I write.

Thank you all again for helping us find our new pet.  We are just so pleased with the new member of our family!  I'll be in touch later this week after our trip to the vet!

Thanks again,

Jenna
