From an adoption dad...
Roses are red
violets are blue
I adopted a dog
from Christians lab rescue (the husband of the founder)

House broken he is
That I was assured
so imagine my surprise
when he laid down a turd

Not in the back yard
not where he dug
smack dab in the middle
of the living room rug

The pride in his eyes
was not in vain
for he certainly knew
that the pile would stain

off to the stairs
he again marked a spot
this time with pee
and topped off with some snot

"I want a dog"
Olivia hounded me for years
I know what to do
so wipe away those tears

"I will walk him and feed him
and pick up the yard"
I promise you not to worry
so she played the wife card

I gave in reluctantly
Oh yes I did
and Christian came forth
with a puppy for my kid

So I take him for walks
I wake in the night
I pick up the yard
and I do it with spite

I am nudged by my wife
each night in the bed
"the puppy is crying
so get him or your dead"

The toys are scattered
and he chewed up my chair
he cost 60 bucks to feed
and 20 to groom his hair

So I am glad to hear you all like your work
Because I am starting to think one of you is a jerk
So sit back on your couch with the DVR on play
I will be in the back yard shovelling away

Luke

Luke is now a proud resident of Denver, Colorado.  He had a new mom that is a REAL dog lover and he basically has his own doggie apartment just for him when she isn't home!  Luke has an awesome lake right behind his new house where he will surely be swimming ALL summer!  They decided to keep the name Luke

Ebby

Ebby came to RMLR from a shelter in Missouri.  She was very sick with parvo when she arrived but after just one night of fluids she began to perk up.  She is now completely recovered from her ordeal and a happy healthy girl!   She loves to go for walks and hikes and and now has a new dad that she can enjoy the outdoors with during the day and then cuddle with on the couch at night.   We can't wait to hear about how much she is enjoying her new home!

Dakota

Dakota was adopted before he even got to us.  He was lucky enough to never go into foster care (despite the fact that we have the most AWESOME foster homes in the state of Colorado).  Dakota is transitioning into his new home and we will have an update and photo soon!

Princeton (Little Bear)

Princeton was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Missouri along with several other puppies. We think he might be a lab mixed with a Newfoundland? His foster mom nicknamed him Little Bear because he really looks like a little Grizzly. He's so cute and furry with big paws for a puppy. He was adopted by a couple in Layfayette with another dog. Princeton has been renamed Jasper and is loving his new family and playmate!

Ellingwood

Ellingwood was rescued from a shelter in Missouri with several other puppies. He's about 10-12 weeks old. He was very cuddly and loved all the other puppies he was rescued with. He was adopted by a nice lady at an adoption event in Boulder. Ellingwood has been renamed Thor and now lives north of Denver with a chocolate lab, Zues,  a golden retriever Lya and a toy poodle Rosie. They all get along great and act like one big happy family. He's getting to be a big boy - 45lbs at last weigh in. All of them actually rallied around Thor last week and chased a fox out of the backyard that was trying to get Rosie. Great job Thor! :)

Miah

Miah came to us at RMLR because there were 10 puppies going to be put to sleep. The rest were lab and lab mixes, we couldn't say no to one more puppy, even if she is a husky. Miah is now a happy resident of Lakewood, Colorado!  We will have an update on how she is adjusting to her new home soon.

Gray

Gray was rescued with several other puppies from a high-kill shelter in Missouri. He and his sister Torrey were left behind the shelter in a box for the humans to take them in the next morning. He was pulled out of the shelter by RMLR. He was adopted by a young couple in Boulder. They renamed him Moose. How sweet life is!

Brooklyn

She is as sweet as her birthday (Valentine's Day) and didn't deserve the past life she was handed.  Brooklyn was turned into a shelter because the family had 9 kids and could not afford to build a fence.  She was on her way to be euthanized when the shelter got an email that the rescue wanted to save her.  A couple in Lafayette, CO took Brooklyn on with all her lovely puppie issues.  Brooklyn now has a brother lab and will enjoy the Front Range of Colorado forever!

Izzabella

Bella was found as a stray in rural Lyon County in KS.  A nice lady took her in and saved her.  Izzabella was then sent to us at the RMLR.  A nice family that already had one Labrador Retriever wanted a second and contacted us.  Izzabella is going to be renamed and is happly enjoying life in Thornton, CO with her new sister Molly the yellow Lab.

 Jake

Jake was brought to Colorado from Oklahoma.  He was found running around a lake chasing the wildlife.  In fear of this little guy becoming injured or worse, shot by a disgruntled land owner this wonderful woman snatched him up and boarded him until a rescue could be found.  That is where we came along and took over.  Jake went directly to Jackie and Jason, one of our wonderful foster homes.  Jackie and Jason fell in love with Jake as it isn't hard to do.  He is now there 2nd four legged child and enjoying every minute of him. They've renamed him Avalanche or Av, for short. If this picture to the left doesn't say happy, we're not sure what does.

Daisy

Daisy was only with us for four days.  She fell in love with her foster family and then a nice lady in Breckenridge expressed interest in her.  Daisy now get to be a true mountain dog!  What more could a 1/2 Labrador, 1/2 German Shepard want?  Life is sweet!

Darby

Darby was found in a trash can with her brother in Kentucky. Her brother was adopted right away and she was in a foster home until January. She's loving Colorado and enjoying everything the life of a puppy has to offer. UPDATE: Darby is almost 2 now and is everything I've ever wanted in a dog. We go to the dog park at least twice a week. She brings the ball up to everyone and asks them to throw it for her. She really is ball obsessed. She can sit, stay, lay down and roll over (when she wants) and sleeps next to me every night. She's a great dog and I couldn't be happier!
