Our Current Doggie Poop Sheets - The Following Dogs Are Available For Adoption

Note: If you are interested in adopting a lab you must first submit an Adoption Application to Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. The process of reviewing applications may take two or three days.  A phone interview and home visit must also take place before an adoption is completed.  If you have specific questions about a particular dog, please submit your application for adoption and we will be happy to discuss which dog(s) you are interested in then.  We can not guarantee that the dog that you are interested in will still be available after your application has been reviewed and processed.

Just a quick thank you to all of our great foster families! They provide us with all the great Bio Information on all of these great dogs, as well as some better photos than the ugly shelter photos that the dog comes with.

A special thanks to Charee! She frequently travels around to our foster homes and takes the fantastic quality professional quality shots seen below! It does wonders to show the personality of our great labs! Thanks Charee!

Cats: No, way too interested!
Children: Good
Leash: Not bad, Excellent on a gentle leader!
Personality:

Summer is here! There are mountains to be hiked, lakes to be swam and balls to be fetched!!! At just a little over one Lava is full of puppy energy! He is looking for a avid runner or outdoors person/family to match his energetic personality. With a strong lean athletic build Lava makes the perfect companion for all your outdoor excursions. With his loving personality he relishes the attention and love from his people. He would do best with another youngish canine companion to play with and a family that understands that he is still just a pup! Lava has been known to be way too curious and dare I say annoying to both the bovine and feline sort. We are eager to find the active family looking for a little canine inspiration to run loyally by their side!

Thank you to the Mauk Family for being a great foster parent to Lava!

Name: Flower
Age: 3 Years
Breed: Black Labrador
Sex: Female
Fixed: Yes
Size: TBD
House Trained:
Yes!
Cats: Fine!
Children: OK!
Leash: Pulls a little would do good with a Gentle Leader!
Personality:

Miss Flower as described by her foster Mom is sweet, loving and cute! She Loves going for car rides eagerly loading up and then settling in nicely for the trip. Unfortunately, Miss Flower arrived a bit "under the weather". Thankfully, she has a great foster Mom who has been fixing her up, determined to have Flower in "Tip Top" shape in no time. In the interim we look forward to hearing updates as Flower starts to feel better and show more of her true colors! So far we know that she is house trained, loves to cuddle...laying her head in your lap and enjoys keeping an eye on her people staying right by their side. She enjoys running around checking out what is going on in the yard but then is very mellow when coming back indoors. Currently Flower is living with the resident female dog at her foster home, as for now she pretty much ignores her or if she is prompted to play lets the resident pup know that she is just not in the mood. Flower would do great being the center of attention or may just need a little time to adjust to her new canine sibling. As for cats? Like a good girl Miss Flower just chooses to ignore them. Flower is definitely on the mend and will be eager to find her forever family soon so please stay tuned!

Thanks to Kristen for being a great foster to Flower!

Needs extra special help

Meet Koda

We would like to introduce everyone to Koda! If you are familiar with RMLR, you might recognize his face.

He is a very large dog, about 100 lbs and very strong. We think he maybe a Labrador Rottweiler mix. Koda has been adopted out twice, and returned twice for aggression issues with other dogs. Due to his size, strength and aggression issues we have not been able to adopt him out. We have paid for him to be in training and are paying for him to be in a pet kennel since we do not have any foster available to work with him.

He is a beautiful healthy dog that has lived with children of various ages (one family had 6 children) and he has never shown any aggression to people or children. He seems protective of his humans. He has also lived with other dogs and done fine with them. He is just picky with his dog friends.

We are a small volunteer run rescue and have very limited resources and funds. We have spent a lot of money on Koda, between working with a trainer and paying to board him. We do not have the means to work with him in order to safely adopt him out. He is a beautiful dog that we believe can be adoptable. He is just in need of a very STRONG leader, a lot of training and maybe even some dog-socialization rehabilitation.

We are looking for possibly a trainer, another rescue with more resources or a sanctuary that might be able to help Koda. Or donations for us to be able to continue to help him as best we can. We're trying our hardest - but our resources just seem to be running out!

Wilber

How to sponsor him

With RMLR Since:
Wednesday June 3rd 2009
Name: Wilber
Age: 1 year
Breed: Black Lab Mix
Sex: Male
Fixed: Yes
Size: 50 lbs
House Trained:
Think so
Cats: Yes
Children: Yes
Leash: Yes
Personality:

Wilber is a smart sprite one year old black lab mix. He has big brown soulful eyes, a splash of white on his chest and quirky little floppy ears. Wilber is an experienced pet but unfortunately Wilber's last family couldn't keep up with his active lifestyle. He is like any young pup who just needs his daily dose of play. Wilber would make an excellent running companion as he is always game for a good run. A versatile young guy he has acclimated quite quickly to his foster home and made fast friends with the resident canine. Wilber is already house trained, knows his basic commands "sit", "lay", and "speak". At times he will cut to the chase and give you the "Wilber three in one special"  performing all three simultaneously. Wilber has the normal energy of any one year old pup but then after being exercised he settles in nicely on his doggy pillow. If your looking for a young sweet dog to take you out running and/or just hang by your side, then ask for Wilber!!!

Story:  Wilber was originally adopted from Boulder Valley Humane by a local family who decided that they don't have enough time to give Wilber the exercise that he needs to stay out of trouble.

Thanks to Greg for being a great foster to Wilber!

Friday June 12th 2009
Name: Gage
Age: 2-3 years
Breed: Yellow Labrador
Sex: Male
Fixed: Yes

House Trained:
Yes!
Cats: Does great...just ingores them!
Children: Great with kids!
Leash: Excellent on leash...walks right at your side!
Personality:

A good 'ole classic labby Gage is considered to be a "good natured and laid back" fellow. He is great  with children, house trained and is happy to be with other dogs as he is accustom to hanging out with many at his previous foster home. He is said to be very tender and caring with dogs both large and small. Gage arrived here in Colorado with stellar reviews from his #1 fan who just happened to be privileged enough to be this big guy's foster Mom. He obviously won a special place in her heart as she explains it " I absolutely love this dog! Gage is one of those special fosters that was hard to see go. I will miss him for quite a while." When asked what his endearing qualities are she responds as such "everything! Absolutely wonderful...he snuggles, he loves laying right at your feet, he likes baths, he follows you around like a puppy, he follows other dogs like a little brother, he's just soft natured and extremely gentle."

Story:

Thanks to Divine Canine for being a great foster to Gage!

Sex: Male

Children: Good
Leash: Good
Personality:

Come meet Bobbie.  He will be dressed in his formal attire of black with a splash of white on his chest -- a permanent tuxedo.  His gentle and warm brown eyes match his very polite, calm and soft personality.  He loves nothing more than being close to people and getting petted and brushed. He gets along great with the family dog and seems calm around children.  He walks wonderfully on a loose leash and is learning to "sit" and "kennel" on verbal command.  He likes to retrieve tennis balls and chewing on a sterilized beef bone or a nyla bone is a favorite activity during quiet times.  He is a bit nervous walking on different floor surfaces but is getting better.   Bobbie will be a great addition to any family looking for a Lab that loves to be with his people.

Thank you to Anne for being a great foster parent to Bobbie!

Jack

Jack is a 6 year old black lab who is a special dog with special needs.  Jack was recently diagnosed with diabetes and has developed cataracts, leaving him blind.  He needs daily insulin shots.  Despite these obstacles, he is incredibly sweet natured and a spirited boy.  He does really great on a leash, loves walks and playing tug.  He needs a loving family who can care for his needs, give him lots of love and a second chance.   For more information or to arrange a meeting, please contact Chelsea at the Steamboat Veterinary Hospital, 970-879-1041.
